Angry protesters took to the streets and torched the Constituency and Community Development Workers’ (CDW) offices in Carolina on 4 July.
This came after a memorandum was handed over by the community to municipal officials on 28 June.
According to a source, the mayor’s response during a radio interview was too general and he did not commit to attend to the plight of the residents.
Mr David Nhlabathi, head of communication of the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, said: “The mayor, is calling for calm as they are attending to residents’ concerns raised in the memorandum.”
