BREAKING NEWS: Protest errupts in eMbalenhle

Ext 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 are apparently no-go areas.

eMBALENHLE – Violent protests are flaring up eMbalenhle tonight, 24 June.

According to reports from Mr Sandile Mkhwanazi of Road Safety RSA who is currently in eMbalenhle, residents have began throwing stones at cars and setting things alight.

Mr Mkhwanazi said the road to Standerton is closed at Ext 16.

A building has been destroyed in Ext 14.

The R546 between Evander and Standerton is partially closed where it passes through eMbalenhle.

Ext 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 are apparently no-go areas.

Mr Mkhwanazi warns motorists to avoid travelling through the township.

Ridge Times reporter, Sifiso Mathebula, earlier reported that the community is disgruntled about the electricity problems in eMbalenhle.
