BETHAL – D/Const December Jele of the Bethal Police was praised for his dedication and commitment in ensuring that a murder accused received a harsh sentence.

The station commander, Col Petrus Nzima, said Const Jele’s hard work was noted and encouraged all police officers to continue working hard.

D/Const Jele was investigating the murder case of Mamoya Martha Khanye who was killed by her boyfriend, Petrus Monareng at Kalbasfontein farm, near Bethal.

The accused was arrested on the scene the same day after a complaint was filed by a neighbour in July.

The forensic and pathology report revealed that the deceased was brutally assaulted and had bruises all over her body.

Monareng was sentenced to an effective 15 years’ imprisonment.
