Man dies as LDV ploughs into pedestrians in eMbalenhle

eMBALENHLE – The driver of a light delivery vehicle is in custody at the eMbalenhle police station after running over two pedestrians today, 30 May.

According to Mr Alf Byleveldt from Jelani Security whose personnel came upon the scene, the accident happened at about 4.15pm on the paved road between Evergreen the an the Bracken Mine road at Ext 26.

The driver allegedly kept on driving after knocking over a pedestrian.

The first pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital by ER24 ambulance.

About 500m further a second man was run over and killed.

The community stopped the delivery vehicle another 500m further.

Mr Byleveldt said the community was very angry and the driver had to be taken away by the police.

ER24 and the Govan Mbeki Municipal firebrigade were also on the scene within minutes.
