BETHAL – Gert Lategan and Walter Erenst of Privaatskool Hoëveldrif won a competition at Burgers Mica in Bethal on Thursday evening, 9 May.
Burgers Mica in Bethal launched a competition two months ago to introduce an environmently friendly paint, Green Coat, to the community.
In the competition, they challenged Grade 7 learners of six schools in Bethal, to write an essay about the environment.
The learners had to write about why it is important to take care of the environment.
Mica then chose one child from each of the six schools as a winner of the best essay and this winner had to choose a friend to take part in a challenge at Mica on Thursday evening.
In this challenge, the six teams received a map of the layout of the store and had to complete several tasks such as finding specific items inside the store and then assembling a plug among other things.
The first team to arrive at the finish line with all the correct items and all the tasks completed, won the challenge and won 200 litres of paint for their school as well as an additional 200 litres of paint that they have to use towards a community project.
The winning team also received a R500 voucher to buy something for themselves in Burgers Mica’s store in Bethal.
