Follow these tips to prevent thieves from breaking into your car

Avoid parking vehicles in dark areas and streets that are not busy, or leaving vehicles unattended for a long a time

TRICHARDT – The police in Trichardt appealed to the community not to leave valuable items in their vehicles.

Capt Noyise Ngqangashe, Trichardt Police station commander, issued a media statement to warn residents about the rise in crime during which items are stolen from cars.

“We are experiencing a high rate of theft out of motor vehicles and the theft of items taken off motor vehicles.

“In most incidents the motorists leave their valuable items, such as laptops, cell phones, and handbags on the vehicle seats in plain view. The criminals break the windows to steal these items.”

Capt Ngqangashe said motorists must also avoid parking vehicles in dark areas and streets that are not busy, or leaving vehicles unattended for a long a time.

“Criminals also steal parts of vehicles such as batteries, spare wheels, car radios and other parts that can be easily removed.
