Linsy Kruger loves taking photos of Secunda’s newborns

She said the best moment is where you get a little smile. The best time for a newborn photo session is within the first 10 days after birth. The babies are then sleepier.

SECUNDA – It requires an affinity for babies and a lot of patience to photograph newborns.

This is according to Ms Linsy Kruger (32) who has taken this up as her photography niche.

She is an all-rounded photographer who can take excellent photos of weddings, events, portraits, and school events, but the newborn shoots intrigue her the most.

“Every baby is different and I try to make the new parents understand that their precious bundle might not necessarily be happy with a pose that the parents want.”

She said some do not want to lie on their tummies, others do not like to be naked or dressed in various outfits.

“It’s the parents who need to be kept calm during a shoot,” she said.

Ms Kruger explained that she has had some really funny moments with the little ones.

One of Ms Lindy Kruger’s precious little models.

“One baby had a poop explosion in his daddy’s hand. The queasy dad tried to keep everything in his hands while the mom just kept on apologising.”

She said the best moment is where you get a little smile.

“The best time for a newborn photo session is within the first 10 days after birth. The babies are then sleepier.”

Ms Kruger has always loved kids and longed for one to call her own, especially as she was a nurse and worked with ill children all the time.

She and her husband Kevin, waited six years for their son Janco (2).

They also suffered a miscarriage before Janco was conceived.

It is no wonder that Ms Kruger considers Janco as her number 1 priority.

It was actually Janco’s arrival that prompted and propelled Ms Kruger into taking up photography as a full-time business venture named “Beyond Temporary Photography”.

At the time she met her husband he was a serious photographer.

The Kruger’s tied the knot in 2010 and photography became their combined hobby.

She dabbled in the art throughout the years, but nursing took most of her focus.

It was clear to the couple that they had to re-evaluate their lives after Janco was diagnosed with infantile syncope, or in layman’s terms: breathe holding spells.

“This is something that children outgrow, but at the time he gave his daycare and us quite a fright.

“We decided that Janco needs me at home.”

Janco’s condition has improved to the extent that he is now again at a daycare where he enjoys interacting with other children.

The Krugers has a part of their house set up as a studio and this is where most of the magic happens.

Besides the babies that are so adorable, family photos also take a special place in Ms Kruger’s heart.

“Many people do not take enough family photos and often do not have a recent photo of a loved one who suddenly passed away.

“I try to take the best photos possible, because these might be the last photo taken of that person.

“My clients often become my friends.”

Ms Kruger is an avid athlete and loves adventure.

She ran the Comrades in 2013.

The Kruger family also enjoys cycling and exploring.

Ms Linsy Kruger thinks of photography as more than a job. “It is an art form,” she said.
