SECUNDA – Mr Tshililo Madiba is the new Tables Manager at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club and is passionate about his job and his team.
Mr Madiba began working at Graceland at the beginning of the year and brings 22 years of experience to the table.
He is responsible for ensuring guests enjoy a world-class gaming experience at Graceland.
He grew up in Thohoyandou in Limpopo and began working in a junior position as a dealer at the Venda Sun Casino.
He was eventually promoted to inspector, then to pit boss and later to duty manager.
Mr Madiba has worked at several different casino’s since he left his job at the Venda Sun Casino and was also the Tables Manager at the Khoroni Casino in Thohoyandou.
As a Tables Manager, his job entails strategic planning and dealing with people. My business is people,” said Mr Madiba.
His vision is to get his employees to shine in their jobs and to give them credit where credit is due.
“If I go anywhere, I observe and take ideas back to Graceland.
“In this industry where we are constantly competing, we need to be innovative. You also need to compete against yourself and allow yourself to grow.”
Mr Madiba met his wife, Ms Rudzani Madiba, at a casino where she was also working.
The couple has four children and the whole family relocated from Limpopo to Secunda when Mr Madiba got the chance to join the team at Graceland Hotel, Casino Country Club.
He said the lifestyle at Secunda is very relaxed and his children will now learn to speak Afrikaans.
In his free time he enjoys playing golf or watching soccer and he helps his wife in the kitchen.
“I am not the best cook, but I try.”
As a Tables Manager, customer service will be Mr Madiba’s main focus, as well as to grow the market share in the hospitality and gaming industry at Graceland.
