Lightning strikes Ford Ranger – then bakkie burns

Lightning struck the Ford Ranger double cab near the turnoff to Balfour and the vehicle caught fire at about 4.30pm.

LEANDRA – Two men escaped unharmed after lightning struck their company vehicle last Thursday, 21 February.

The two employees of Tren Tyre were travelling from Standerton to Leandra where they were going to turn off to Johannesburg.

Lightning struck the Ford Ranger double cab near the turnoff to Balfour and the vehicle caught fire at about 4.30pm.

Jelani Security and firefighters from Leandra and Standerton were on the scene.

According to Mr Alf Byleveldt the bakkie completely burned out.

Car Doctor towed away the wreckage.

This bakkie was en route to Leandra when it was struck by lightning and caught on fire last Thursday, 21 February.
