Const Thomas Mogadime is back at work after serious accident

He was on sick leave for four months following an accident which almost claimed his life.

eMZINONI – Surviving a horrific car accident which almost took his life, Const Thomas Mogadime has developed a strong relationship with God.

He was involved in an accident between Bethal and Middelburg in September and spent more than a week in hospital, followed by sick leave of more than three months.

Const Mogadime is a police officer at Bethal Police Station.

He has served as a communication officer and a social crime prevention officer.

Const Mogadime is dedicated to his work as a law enforcer and has gained the heart of many locals with his community projects such as Thomas-Heights.

He believes that God has given him a second chance to continue serving the people of this country.

“I thought my life was over, because I lost a lot of blood and I could not even move.

“I was feeling cold until I was taken to hospital. That is when I saw the mighty arm of the Lord in my life and it made me realise that as children of God, we live in an entirely different dimension.

“We have been rescued, delivered and transferred out of darkness and into His light. Because of His light I’ve conquered darkness and I now walk and embrace His light in my life.”

Const Thomas Mogadime is happy to return to work.

Const Mogadime added that he was not sure of his future, but he kept the faith and told himself that he won’t allow his current situation to steal his joy and peace.

“I was comforted by the fact that God is with me, no matter how difficult it was for me in the hospital.

“Doubt and unbelief often go hand in hand, so I never allowed myself to drift away into doubt and unbelief. Instead, I stood firm, rest assured and believed with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.

He recalls that the doctors told him that he will be hospitalised for a month, however, he was discharged on the eighth day.

Const Mogadime describes himself as a cool, calm and collected individual.

He is one of a set of twins with 10 siblings. It is the support from his family that kept him going during these trying times.

He said the most difficult thing about his experience was not being able to go to work and do what he loves for about four months.

“As a communication and social crime prevention officer, my duty is to engage with the community through community meetings and projects, as well as give information regarding incidents of crime in the vicinity of Bethal to the media.

“I am happy to be back at work.”

He is also known in the community for his non profit organisation, Thomas-Heights.

The organisation specialises in developing the youth through various projects such as modeling and beauty pageants.

Through the organisation he also helps needy families by donating food parcels, clothes and sanitary towels to girls.

He is seen as a mentor to many as he aims to make a remarkable change the lives of the youth.

Const Mogadime concluded by thanking everyone who supported him during this period.
