Lekwa issues power interruptions notice

“The reason for the power interruptions is that Eskom contractors are upgrading the Sakhile electricity network,” was the reply.

Lekwa Municipality issued a notice about electricity supply interruptions in certain wards on Wednesday, 20 February and the Standerton Advertiser tried to ascertain the reason for the outages on Thursday, 21 February from 8.10am onwards.

Time was of the essence since the power was going to be cut at 9am till 5pm in Ward 1, 2, 5 and 6.

The municipality said it would happen every Thursday for the next three months and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Our offices are in Burger Street which falls under Ward 1, but the newspaper was finally able to send an e-mail, in the absence of power interruptions, to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager, at 10.34am.

Electricity remained on till 5pm.
