Two trucks were set alight by protesters on the R36 road near Breyten this afternoon, 22 February.
No injuries are reported.
The KwaZanele public library was also set alight.
The violence comes after police arrested one suspect prompting protesters to demand his release.
The police are investigating cases of malicious damage to property.
Motorists are advised to avoid the R36 road from Carolina through Breyten to Ermelo as the situation is tense.
