SECUNDA – Police detectives from Secunda arrested a murder suspect in Durban last week.
Mr Elridge van der Merwe is suspected of stabbing another Dubanite behind the Secunda Post Office on 23 September last year.
The two were working shutdown in Secunda at the time.
According to the police reports, the men were arguing when the victim (50) was stabbed. He was taken to Evander Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The reason for the fight is unknown.
Mr Van der Merwe fled after the stabbing.
He has appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to 30 January for bail application.
