Captain Sipho Mokoena is promoted to the head of serious violent crimes section at Middelburg Detective Services

The police enables me to interact with a lot of different people and taught me to treat everybody equal and be impartial at all times.

Capt Sipho Mokoena from Ermelo was recently promoted to Middelburg Detective Services as the head of the serious violent crimes unit.

He joined the police in 1991 and completed his basic training at Hammanskraal Police Training College and was deployed to Morgenzon as a constable.

He was later promoted to lance sergeant.

Capt Mokoena quickly climbed up the rankings and was incorporated to the uniform investigation unit in 1995 and promoted to sergeant in 1996.

The same year he was appointed as the detective unit commander at Morgenzon.

In 2000 he was promoted to warrant officer and was transferred to Ermelo Detective Services Serious Violent Crimes Unit in 2006.

He was appointed as the detective centre commander at Ermelo in 2016 and held this position until December 2018.

Capt Mokoena’s message to the colleagues that he leaves behind in Ermelo, is to be loyal to the community they serve, trustworthy and to always go the extra mile.

“The police enabled me to interact with a lot of different people and taught me to treat everyone equal and impartial at all times,” Capt Mokoena said.

He awaits the opportunity to use the skills and capabilities he acquired at Ermelo Detective Services to serve the community of Middelburg.

“I am looking forward to learn more concerning the combating and prevention of crime against women and children which is escalating everyday,” he concluded.
