MegChem awards learners at graduation ceremony

The learnership has had a significant impact on the local unemployment rate over the years and has impacted the lives of the learners who have completed the learnership.

SECUNDA – MegChem in Secunda held a graduation ceremony recently for the learners who formed part of the Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) learnership offered by Gola Institute of Engineering.

The 2018 programme included office practice on a level 4 which is accredited by the Construction Education Training Authority (CETA).

A total of 29 learners were sponsored by MegChem and the remaining three were funded by SecMet.

The learnership has had a significant impact on the local unemployment rate over the years and has impacted the lives of the learners who have completed the learnership.

It has equipped them with the skills and tools that make them employable.

On the day, the learners were addressed by Ms Yolanda Sineke, branch manager of CETA in Mpumalanga.

The learners were told to never stop dreaming and keep pushing for better as this opportunity is a head start for what they could possibly accomplish in the future.

Ms Sineke encouraged them to think beyond South African borders and to travel the world, gain experience and knowledge, then come home and impact the economy.

Directors of MegChem, SecMet and Gola, as well as representatives from MerSeta, Sasol and Osizweni, were present at the graduation.

Ms Fortunate Mashuba was awarded the trophy for the Best Female Learner and Mr Machaba Mongalo received the accolade for the Best Male Learner award.

If you are interested in enrolling in this programme, note that the 2019 intake has been finalised and the intake for 2020 will open in October 2019.

The minimum requirement for the learnership is 50 per cent in mathematics and drawing at matric level with science as an added advantage.
