Famsa’s Dignity Box project still goes on

Organisation donate boxes to Tutuzela Care Centre and FCS Unit of police in Secund

SECUNDA – Ms Rina Louw, social worker at Famsa, thanked the community for supporting the Dignity Box project.

With this project, people could donate toiletries and make up boxes specifically for women and children who experienced trauma and abuse.

These boxes include a face cloth, sanitary towels, soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a toilet roll, shampoo, roll-on, a panty, something sweet and a personal note of encouragement.

This is an ongoing project and people can donate boxes or any of the items in the boxes when Famsa’s office re-opens again on 7 January.

Some of the boxes were already donated to the Tutuzela Care Centre at Evander Hospital and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS) of the police and will be given to survivors of abuse as necessary.

Ms Louw also thanked Sasol, the Methodist Church in Evander, Lifalethu Primary School, Dr DL Gopal, Walker Park Golf Club, Kardoesie Tuisnywerheid, Mangolisa, Dorcas Soup Kitchen, and the Stedu VI Club, as well as every individual who donated towards the project.
