Four suspects allegedly rob 17-year-old

He immediately grabbed their car keys from the ignition and detained the suspects.

Kasselman Security Services (KSS) saved a 17-year-old girl from falling victim to an alleged scam to rob her on 13 December.

According to the Standerton Police, four suspect hailing from Johannesburg, robbed her of her new shoes, cell phone and purse.

According to Mr Dumisani Hadebe of KSS, he received a tip-off about scammers on the loose and upon investigation, witnessed one of the suspects talking to the girl.

“A few minutes later she handed them her belongings and I rushed to her,” Mr Hadebe said.

“She then told me they had promised her a job, delivering pampers.”

According to the girl, she was coming out of a shop when one of the women approached, asking for direction to a local church.

She confirmed Mr Hadebe’s statement about the job opportunity and said a second woman also approached.

The girl said the second woman was informed of the conversation and offered to take both of their belongings and suggested meeting outside Shoprite Checkers.

According to her, Mr Hadebe then rushed towards the four and they fled towards their vehicle.

He immediately grabbed their car keys from the ignition and detained the suspects.

None of them could produce identity documents and the driver had no driving licence.

The car was traced to be belonging to a Ms Dube from Hillbrow in Johannesburg, but not reported stolen.

They were charged with fraud and robbery and were due to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 14 December.
