Johan Sambo takes the first prize for Mpumalanga at the National Extension and Advisory Services Awards (NEASA) in Mafikeng

Mr Sambo has received this award because of the influence he has had on the farmers by advising them on daily basis to improve the standard of living, food security and poverty alleviation.

Dedicated in the work he does, Mr Johan Sambo from Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) scooped up the first prize at the National Extension and Advisory Services Awards (NEASA) in the Support Services category, representing the Mpumalanga province.

The NEASA took place in Mafikeng recently.

The awards seek to recognise the officials in all provinces from the Extension and Advisory Services who have performed outstandingly, as well as contributed to the application of agricultural development in the field of Extension and Advisory Services.

Mr Sambo has received this award because of the influence he has had on the farmers by advising them on daily basis to improve the standard of living, food security and poverty alleviation.

His intervention in animal production has improved animal breeding, nutrition, veld and pastures.

MEC V.R Shongwe for DARDLEA has congratulated Mr Sambo and proudly handed him a cheque of R10 000.

“I feel more motivated than before and is also humbled and thankful to all the farmers, my superiors and officials I worked with. The award was only possible because of their support,” Mr Sambo said.
