Man caught trying to flee Mayflower after stabbing another at local tavern

The suspect was caught around 5:30am at a hiking spot trying to flee and was found in possession of a knife with blood stains.

A man was arrested and charged with murder on Sunday, 9 December after he is alleged to have stabbed a man at the Redhill Section at Ekupholeni Tavern in Dundonald, Mayflower.

According to Mayflower Police spokesman, Const Tryphina Utla, the man was caught at about 5.30am trying to flee the small town.

“The 25-year-old suspect is alleged to have stabbed a 44-year-old man, known as Mcedeni Job Mthethwa, on Saturday, 8 December at about 11.15pm after they got into an argument,” Const Utla said.

The suspect was arrested at a hiking spot and was found in possession of a knife with blood stains.

He appeared in Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday, 10 December.

The case has been postponed to 14 January 2019 for further investigation. The suspect is remanded in custody.
