Sipho Nzima wants to take hands with community

Organisation keeps an eye on Govan Mbeki Municipality

SECUNDA – Mr Sipho Nzima (44) is the new face of the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) and has been working with Outa since last year to address municipal issues in the Govan Mbeki Municipal area.

Outa will officially open an office in Secunda within the next month and Mr Nzima is ready to help the communities of the surrounding towns to hold the municipality accountable.

He was born and bred in eMbalenhle and finished high school in eMbalenhle before he moved to Johannesburg where he worked in the business, marketing and IT industries.

He spent 15 years in Johannesburg before moving back to eMbalenhle where he opened his own IT business.

He also opened a compliance company in Secunda and his passion is to see to a better South Africa for everyone.

Mr Nzima’s goals are to improve communications between the municipality and residents and to influence important decisions made by municipal officials.

“The municipality should make decisions that are best for the community, not for their own personal gain,” said Mr Nzima.

“We at Outa, use the constitution to keep the municipality accountable.

“There are sections within the constitution that empowers us and that is our biggest power against bad decisions from the municipality.”

Outa asked the municipality for a financial recovery plan regarding Govan Mbeki Municipality’s debt with Eskom and Randwater.

“It takes money to deliver services and we want to know where the money is going.

“We want to sit on the panel where the municipality make decisions and we want to ensure that those decisions are best for the community.”

Mr Nzima wants to see his country prosper.

“South Africa should be good for everyone, black, white, yellow, it does not matter what race you are.

“That is why I got involved with Outa, to work together to improve our country.

“I think sometimes people are so stuck in the past that they forget to focus on the future.”

Mr Nzima is married and has three children and he enjoys jogging and weight lifting in his free time.

He enjoys the outdoors and is a nature- and animal lover and has two rottweilers.
