Sharpville residents protest over alleged discrimination

They also said that out of all those who received houses, not one of them was coloured or from Sharpville.

Residents of Sharpville in Azalea protested in Marais Street on 25 October over their exclusion from getting RDP houses.

“We are being discriminated against because we are coloureds,” they shouted.

Sharpville falls under Ward 3, which is led by the ANC’s Ms Mapaseka Molaba, who is also the Chief Whip of the Council.

The residents said Ms Molaba informed them at a recent meeting that she will divide 31 houses at Ext 8 among her ward.
They also said that out of all those who received houses, not one of them was coloured or from Sharpville.
