Burglaries increase in Secunda

Police encourage locals to residents to enhance security measure in their homes.

SECUNDA – Police are concerned about the high increase in house breakings in the area.

Police said most incidents happen during the day or nights between 1am and 4am while people are fast asleep.

According to the police the criminals target electrical appliances, especially televisions.

Cpt Bettinah Zondo, police spokesman, encouraged locals to try to enhance security measures in their homes.

She urged residents to always keep the serial numbers of their appliances because sometimes police recover stolen items, but owners do not receive them because there is no proof.

“We are working around the clock to address any form of crime in the area and we request the locals to co-operate.”

She said police are also doing regular patrols and road blocks in attempts to combat crime in the area.
