Martilie Weideman’s ministry takes her all over the world

Russia and Siberia holds a special place in her heart.

SECUNDA – Ms Martilie Weideman’s ministry took her all over the world.

She is a retired nursing sister and used to own the Secunda Baby and Travel clinic.

“I am retired now and re fired,” said Ms Weideman.

She closed the clinic more than three years ago and is focussing on her ministry full time.

She and her husband, Mr Adré Weideman, moved to Secunda in 1976 and she was a stay at home mom before she began with pre-birth classes.

Ms Weideman’s spiritual life changed in 1985 after she had a meeting with the Holy Spirit.

“I have always walked a path with Jesus, but since I had that meeting with the Holy Spirit, I met God at a deeper and more intimate level.”

She now helps people to find their destiny and to be free from bondage.

She received healing for herself in her body, mind and spirit in 1985.

“Somebody came and prayed for me in my house and I experienced the power of physical healing of my body.”

Nowadays Ms Weideman is the one praying and helping others.

She began a prayer group of people from different churches and denominations and the group prayed together for many years.

Her ministry took her to New Zealand, Australia, the USA, India and the Far East, Kenya, Sudan, Iceland, Russia, Siberia and Tanzania to name a few.

She began a ministry in Kenya and Tanzania in 2004 and since then, a few churches were formed.

Ms Weideman is a professional photographer as well and her photography took her to Uganda and South Sudan where she and her husband were asked by a Christian organisation to take photos of the slum areas, including old hospital buildings and schools.

“We heard later from someone that saw on the news that 130 people were shot just a few kilometres from where we stayed in South Sudan.

“We had nine gunmen that took care of us.”

The trip to Sudan was a great opportunity for Ms Weideman as she asked the Lord to bring her photography and her ministry together.

“I was complaining to the Lord while I was taking photos, that I want to pray for people as well.”

Ms Weideman’s heart desire became a reality when she took photos in an abandoned hospital and heard a noise.

She investigated and saw a woman who sat with her dying son lying next to her.

“The seven-year-old boy has been in a coma for three days already.

“His mother basically took him there, out of the village, to die.

“I began praying for him and he woke up and said he was thirsty.”

Ms Weideman ended up praying for people until after midnight, because when her translator saw the boy woke up, he ran and told the whole village about the miracle.

People formed a long line as they waited for her to pray for them.

Another miracle that stands out for Ms Weideman is when they visited Tanzania and a woman with no pulse was brought to her.

“She was not breathing anymore and people ran away because they did not want to be close to a dead person.

“I kneeled next to her and was thinking I could pray for anything now, but I am going to pray that she will wake up.”

Ms Weideman prayed and the woman jumped up and ran to the church building nearby where people were worshipping.

“They then asked me what have I done with the body and I said there she is, she is singing in the church now.

“The other people in the church looked her up and down the whole time.”

About 30 churches were formed in this area after this outreach.

Ms Weideman also manages camping grounds in Vereeniging where she also held a few woman’s camps and other groups also use the facilities.

She is also involved in a political party, the ACDP.

She still enjoys photography and entered two panels of photos last year that was accepted according to the APSSA and FPSSA standards.

Ms Weideman began taking photography as a hobby in 2005 and enjoys taking nature and travel photos.

She got involved at the photography club when a friend invited her after he saw some of her happy snappies and said she had a good eye for a photo.

Ms Weideman has three children and four grandchildren that she enjoys spending her free time with.

She also believes that God has made everybody on earth to His image.

“God called us all to reach out and use whatever we have to make a positive impact in the world around us.”
