UPDATE: Heavy wind blows down electricity poles in Trichardt

Beware of sagging electricity poles in Carolus Street. According to Mr Jan du Plessis from Afriforum, eight poles (electricity and lamp poles) have been damaged

UPDATE – 7pm: The electricity to Carolus Street will be switched off at the substation until the fallen poles can be repaired.

Ms Ciska Jordaan, ward councillor, has just been informed that the MMC’s technical team will take action.

“The road will also be barricaded, but the team cannot give a time frame of when the problem will be resolved.”

Ms Jordaan said the techical team has also been informed of a major electricity problem in eMzinoni.

“I want to thank Mr Jan du Plessis and the Afriforum team for assisting with the traffic at this critical time,” said Ms Jordaan.

6pm: TRICHARDT – A gush of heavy wind swept through Trichardt and caused damage to electrical poles and wires in Carolus Street this afternoon, 28 September.

According to Ms Ciska Jordaan, DA ward councillor, the cables are live and very dangerous.

She has reported it to the Govan Mbeki Municipality who twice took notice of the report.

Motorists are cautioned to avoid the road for now as the municipal electricians are still working on a cable fault in Secunda.
