VOC FM to announce radio drama winners at special gala dinner

The main objective of the schools radio drama competition was to identify young story writers in the district and nurture their talent.

VOC FM, in collaboration with the National Lotteries Commission, will host a gala event on tonight, 7 September to award a school that excelled at their school drama broadcasting competition.

The radio station held numerous auditions throughout the Gert Sibande District where schools were requested to submit drama plays about various social ills with the intention of discouraging wrong deeds in the society and at schools.

The main objective was to identify young story writers.

More than 20 schools took part in the competition, both at primary and high school level.

Listeners were tasked with choosing the best radio drama which aired from May to August this year.

After a series of auditions, five primary schools and five high schools were selected and their stories were recorded at the studio that was funded by the National Lotto and they were broadcast from May until August.

The public and the schools were requested by the project managers to vote for a best writer/s and the school with the best drama will be offered special prizes during this gala dinner.
