UPDATE: Several shops in Secunda Mall temporarily evacuated

Owners of the mall decided to evacuate some stores this morning after vibrations were heard inside Food Lovers Market.

UPDATE – 2pm

SECUNDA – All is back to normal and trading has recommenced at Secunda Mall.

Mr Imraan Salajee from Secunda Mall said the owners of the mall decided to evacuate Food Lovers Market, DisChem, Checkers Hyper, Checkers Liquor, King Pie and Biltong @ ZA stores this morning after vibrations were heard inside Food Lovers Market.

“We opted first for the safety of our customers and decided to rather evacuate as a safety precaution,” said Mr Salajee.

The mall management confirmed that Sasol was not doing mining activities underground. They then called in engineers to help locate the origin of the vibration.

“We inspected the entire area and eventually discovered that an out-of-sync air conditioner was causing the vibration.

The problem has been rectified. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our customers,” said Mr Salajee.
