[UPDATE] Third person dies after nine-car pile-up near Brenden Village

EVANDER – Two people died in an accident involving nine cars at the Brenden Village intersection between eMbalenhle and Evander this morning, 26 August.

The accident happened just before 3am.

Numerous people have been injured.

One motorist allegedly set his own car on fire after the pile up.

All the emergency services are on the scene.

Mr Alf Byleveldt from Jelani Security extinguished the burning car.According to members from StratconRisk on the scene, the road will be closed off for quite some time.

UPDATE at 9.10am

The police have confirmed that the road was reopened for traffic.

They said a third person had died after the pile-up early this morning.

The accident happened when an Inveco minibus and a Chevrolet sedan collided head-on.
