Highveld Ridge SPCA kennels already filling up again

Reports that the Highveld Ridge SPCA has closed down on demand of the NSPCA are not true and there again several animals up for adoption

EVANDER – The kennels are again filling up at the Highveld Ridge SPCA with animals brought in as strays or being surrendered by their owners.

These included several puppies that appear to be a Labrador crossbred, an Irish terrier and fox terriers.

Less than two weeks ago, neighbouring SPCAs from Middelburg and eMalahleni offered help by collecting the animals at the SPCA kennels at the time in the hope to possibly find them homes in the other towns. These also included the livestock.

The horses Shrek and Thomas, and donkey Fiona will be relocated to their new home within the coming week.

Fiona the donkey and her companions, Shrek and Thomas, play in their camp at the Highveld Ridge SPCA. They will be relocated to their new home this week.

Reports that the Highveld Ridge SPCA has closed down on demand of the NSPCA are not true.

The SPCA is indeed in desperate financial despair, but the remaining few volunteers have not yet given up on the animals. The gates are still open to help animals.

The animals currently at the kennels will be up for adoption once the prescribed seven days in which owners can claim their pets have lapsed.

If they are not adopted, they will be relocated to the other SPCAs in the hope of finding them forever homes.

The new animal welfare organisation, Because Dogs & Co, visited the kennels last week with some supplies and to visit the dogs in the kennels.

Mr Ian Haggerty also took professional photos of the animals that are up for adoption.

Other organisations have also reached out to the SPCA, such as the Secunda Angels and Feral Watch.

To adopt, contact the Highveld Ridge SPCA at 082 222 1122.
