[BREAKING NEWS] eMbalenhle community members nab an alleged child trafficker

The suspect will appear in the Evander Magistrate's Court today.

eMBALENHLE – A four-year-old girl was rescued from a man who was allegedly intending to traffic her on Monday, 11 June.

The suspect was caught with the child at the Extension 19 Cemetery by community members.

The mother of the girl told the police that her child requested money to buy chips at the tuck-shop.

The child was afraid of dogs in the neighborhood and her mother asked her friend to go with her.

The mother later realised the girl took long and went to her friend’s house to look for her.

The friend told her that she left the child at the shop.

The mother searced for her daughter. Someone told her she was seen walking with a man towards the cemetery.

Const Busi Mthethwa, the police spokesman, said the mother went to the cemetery to look for her.

“When she saw her daughter, she screamed for help.

“The man realised that he was in trouble and ran away.

“The child allegedly followed the man however later stopped when she saw her mother.

“Members of the community chased the man and apprehended him.”

It is alleged that the suspect told the community members that he was going to sell the child.

He will appear in the Evander Magistrate’s Court today.
