Sidney Mofokeng is paving the way for new fashion trends

Mr Sidney Mofokeng is hitting the fashion industry by storm.

eMBALENHLE – Sidney Mofokeng is a senior display artist, blogger, window dresser, merchandiser and designer.

“I see myself as a hybrid brand personality who specialises in art, photography, media, marketing and organising events.

He studied fine and applied arts at Tswane University of Technology.

Sidney is a charismatic, versatile and compassionate man with an incredible work ethic.

“I have always enjoyed dressing up from a young age, but growing up I was more into brands.

“My friends and my love for art also influenced my sense of fashion and I am a devotee of vintage styles and you could say I am stuck in the golden era.”

Sidney began to express himself through different mediums, including painting, making ceramics, textiles and fashion.

“Working as a sales representative broadened my horizons. It influenced me to take bolder steps to pursue a career in the fashion retail industry.”

He worked as a window dresser at various stores and maintained stores in the Highveld region in 2012.

Sidney accepted a senior position in Rosebank in Gauteng to oversee four stores in 2014.

Things only became better when he later joined a travelling team to oversee the northern region of Gauteng.

He relocated to Pretoria to oversee North West and Limpopo stores.

“Through my work I established myself as a stylist and share my personal approach to fashion on my social media platforms.

Sidney is a founder of Fashionsence that focuses of conducting research about local and international fashion trends.

Fashionsence has been documenting and discovering new and innovative styles to predict colours, fabrics and future trends of local talents.

He described his work as the rise of an African renaissance that is influenced by western and eastern culture urban street styles.

“The evolution of the African men’s styles are not sufficiently represented in major retail stores. As a display artist I serve as the voice of this consumer group.”

Sidney uses the platform to attract the consumer, establishing trends and providing seasonal forecasts for the fashion industry.

He is also a photographer and believes that photography is about capturing souls, not smiles, because beauty can be seen in all things.

The future holds great things for this young man who wants to open his own studio and is currently designing his own men’s wear clothing line.
