[UPDATE] N17 highway closed between Leandra and Devon
The N17 is still closed and motorists are advised to use R29 Road.
ER24 said in a press statement that one person died in the accident on the N17 highway between Leandra and Devon this morning.
Mr Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman, said ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 7.30am to find two trucks in the emergency lane while a bakkie was found in the right hand lane.
“Upon closer inspection, the body of a man was found lying trapped in the driver’s seat of the bakkie. He had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.”
Mr Meiring said three other people were found on the scene. The passenger from the bakkie had sustained moderate injuries, while the drivers of the two trucks had sustained minor injuries.
They were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to hospitals.
The local authorities were on the scene.

Three trucks and a bakkie were involved in the accident and road users are advised to use the R29 road as an alternative route.
