GMM does not pay Eskom debt, power will be interrupted

The interruptions will last longer in the second week and the third week there will be no power supply from 6am to 8pm.

HIGHVELD – Eskom is once again planning to throttle electricity supply to the Govan Mbeki Municipality as of Monday 21 May.

This comes after the municipality again failed to honour its debt repayment agreement they entered into with Eskom on 6 April. The contemplated interruptions will affect Secunda, Bethal, eMzinoni and eMbalenhle.

In the first week from 21 to 27 May, the electricity will be off from 6am to 8 am and again from 5pm to 7.30pm on from Monday to Friday and on weekends from 8.30 am to 11 am and again from 3pm to 5.30pm.

The interruptions will last longer in the second week and the third week there will be no power supply from 6am to 8pm.

If the Govan Mbeki Municipality does not come up with a payment, Eskom will continue with the cut off.
