SPCA called in to help with Nile monitor lizard set on moving into Secunda townhouse

Lizard released far from residential area.

SECUNDA – A resident at Tafelberg townhouses did not appreciate a surprise visit from a Nile monitor lizard that wanted to make itself at home today, 17 April.

The reptile crawled into the lounge of the resident’s house at about 1pm, but was soon chased out. It headed to a neighbour’s car.

According to Senior Inspector Jenneth Geel from the Highveld Ridge SPCA who was called to assist, the owner of the car and a friend wrestled the animal into a carry cage.

Inspector Jenneth Geel and Mr Thembinkosi Malinga released the Nile monitor lizard far from the residential area.

“By the time the SPCA arrived, the scared animal was already caught and ready to be transported,” said Inspector Geel.

She and Mr Thembinkosi Malinga immediately released the Nile monitor lizard far from the residential area.
