[UPDATE] Two kids die when bakkie collided with truck between SkyHill and Secunda

The road between Sky-Hill and Secunda has been reopened after the accident this morning.

UPDATE (12:24): The accident scene has been cleared and the road between Evander and Secunda is open for use.

SECUNDA – Two teenagers died in a car accident between Secunda and SkyHill this morning, 9 April.

According to Capt Bettina Zondo, police spokesman, the bakkie they were travelling in from Evander to Secunda allegedly drove into the back of a Mammoet truck.

Rescue workers were battling to free the children from the wreckage.

Mr Jaco Horn from GTR said the girl and boy appear to have been between the ages of 13 and 17 years, but this information has yet to be confirmed. The children’s mother and sibling have been injured and were transported to hospital.

Paramedics from Langamed South Services and ER24 are on the scene, as well as the Govan Mbeki Municipal fire brigade, security services and the emergency chaplain services.
