Darkness looms once again for Govan Mbeki Municipal residents

Council apparently owes Eskom close to R700 million and did not honour payment agreement.

Eskom said in a statement it will implement bulk power supply interruptions to the Govan Mbeki Municipality from 16 April.

This follows the municipality’s failure to honour the repayment plan agreement entered into with Eskom in January.

Eskom said the interruptions will be intensified this time and there will be times when the electricity will be cut for over 12 hours.
