[UPDATE] The transformer that burnt in Olienhout Street needs to be replaced

DA Councillor says municipality will fix transformer in Secunda today.

Update (18:30) : Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor, said a part of the area affected by the burned out transformer at Olienhout Street, is still without electricity. Work will resume in the morning.

Update (09:10) : The transformer that burnt in Olienhout Street this morning needs to be replaced because all the cables burnt as well.

According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA Councillor, the municipality does not have a new transformer and will now ask the service provider for help.

Residents in the area around Five Star SuperSpar and Laerskool Kruinpark were without electricity in the early hours of this morning after a transformer burnt.

Electricity in some areas was restored, but residents in the area around Azalea Street still had no electricity by 7am this morning.

According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA Councillor, the municipality would have to replace the transformer.

“The municipality will fix it today, but with this weather it might be a challenge.”

She advised residents to be prepared.
