BETHAL – Bethal Regional Court sent Zenny Lukhele from eMzinoni to 15 years’ imprisonment on Monday, 26 February.
Lukhele was on parole when he was arrested for rape and assault.
He approached his 19-year-old victim when she was walking home in Ext 6 in Azapo in eMzinoni.
He grabbed her from behind and forced her to a nearby shack where he raped her repeatedly throughout the night.
She escaped in the morning when he was sleeping and contacted the police. Officers went to the crime scene where Lukhele was one of the bystanders.
His victim saw him and pointed him out to the police.
W/O Gloudie Sachse from the Family Violence, Sexual Offence and Child Protection Unit in Secunda investigated the crime.
