It was an emotionally charged event as the family and friends of the late Mr Louis van der Hoven gathered around the street name post at the entrance to the new Terra Nova Village Mall on Wednesday morning, 21 March.
They were all laughing and crying in reminiscence of Mr Van der Hoven, the chief builder of the Terra Nova development who died last year. The street to the mall was named Louis van der Hoven street in his honour.
His wife, Ms Erize van der Hoven, stood by while their children, Wian, Luné and Lisa cut the red ribbons round the post to declare the street officially opened.

Mr Van der Hoven was attacked and stabbed in the eye in front of his friends on 7 July. The stabber was one of the people to whom Mr Van der Hoven offered a lift. He was stabbed when he tried to stop the man from assaulting a woman.
Mr Van der Hover died on 10 July after being declared brain dead.
Mr André Boshoff, a family friend and colleague, led the procession with a prayer for the family and friends on Wednesday morning before the official opening of the mall.
