Evander Police arrest four for murder and possession of illegal firearms

Police launch operation after death of two Lesotho nationals.

EVANDER – Two Lesotho nationals, age 24 and 26, were attacked and killed in their place of residence in the Enkomeni informal settlement near Evander.

This happened on Sunday, 11 February at about 8pm.

Two groups from Lesotho who are mining illegally in the area, were arguing and the two men were killed.

Today police conducted an operation in the area and arrested four suspects for murder and possession of illegal firearms.

The operation was conducted by Evander SAPS members, Secunda POP, Secunda K9, Crime Intelligence and LCRC.

A 9mm pistol and a rifle were recovered and four suspects, between 24 and 30 years old, from Lesotho were arrested.

They are expected to appear in Evander Magistrate’s Court soon.
