Burglars target three houses in one night in Secunda

Burglars targeted three houses in one neighbourhood during the course of Friday night and early Saturday morning, 3 February.

Burglars broke into three houses in one neighborhood during the course of Friday night and early Saturday morning, 3 February.

These houses are opposite each other in Cornelia Street. According to Capt Bettinah Zondo, Secunda Police spokesman, the burglars gained access to two of the houses by breaking open the windows while the residents were not at home.

They stole numerous items, especially electronic devices such as televisions and laptops.

Two men gained access to the yard of the third house and were looking around in a car under the carport when the home owner startled them.

They escaped through the main gate.

It is still unclear how the thieves gained access to the yard, because it is fenced off with electric wire.

The gate was also not forced open.

The home owner described the thieves as being between 20 and 30 years old and very skinny. The one has a long skinny face with a prominent bald head.

Residents of this neighborhood have begun a Whatsapp group to keep a lookout for each other and to share information.

Capt Zondo said the police are investigating the possibility that the same group committed all three crimes.

She asked residents to look out for suspicious looking vehicles and people hanging around in the neighborhood.

“Make sure you save the police’s emergency numbers. These are 10111, 017 624200 and 017 6242241/2.”
