UPDATE: GMM’s acting municipal manager ‘ordered’ to evacuate office
Members of business forum allegedly assault Mhlanga.
SECUNDA – The acting Govan Mbeki Municipal manager, Mr Thisha Mhlanga, has been instructed to leave his office by a business forum this afternoon.
It is alleged that he was assaulted.
Police confirmed they received a call from the municipality about disturbances and that on arrival they were told the business forum ordered Mr Mhlanga to leave the office and to meet on Monday with the provincial leadership.
Capt Bettinah Zondo, police spokesman, said no case has been opened so far.
Reliable sources told the newspaper that the forum is not happy with Mr Mhlanga’s way of doing business.
The newspaper contacted the chairman of the forum who said he will comment soon.
The municipality was not available for comment.
