Govan Mbeki Municipality said residents can expect low water pressure or no water at all.
According to the notice published on Facebook, Rand Water is not pumping water at all at Bloemendal which supplies the whole Govan Mbeki Municipal area.
Power failures interrupted the pumping of water and apparently the problem is on Eskom’s side with four power stations that blew up.
The municipality said Eskom is unable at this time to estimate when the problem will be resolved.
While Rand Water is not pumping water, water levels in all Govan Mbeki Municipality’s reservoirs is going to be lower and the pressure will decrease and the water will subsequently run out.
Rand Water will inform the municipality as soon as they get feedback from Eskom.
