Sandile Sibiya makes crafts from recyclables

People appreciate his craft as the love colour spread sneakers are a hit with the youth.

Making beautiful crafts out of recyclables is what Sandile is passionate about.

Mr Sandile Sibiya (21) is a crafter and part-time student at Unisa.

“Juggling work, study and crafting is difficult and I hardly have any spare time on my hands.”

He sticks to a strict schedule to manage these.

Studying policing at Unisa, Mr Sibiya wants to have an educational foundation in his life.

“I believe one should have an educational qualification to fall back on. ”

The craft work is done over weekends when he is off from work.

“I love art and am a crafty person.”

Mr Sibiya’s craft is colourful and his target market initially was the youth, but it still appeals to the older generation.

His creations include love colour spread sneakers and recycled plastic wrap canisters and the paint is the only material that is brought.

The craft is affordable as the target market is the youth.

Mr Sibiya’s driving force is to be busy and to never let a moment pass by without doing something productive, resulting in very little sleep.

“Life is complicated and one needs to navigate it well, regardless of the problems one encounters. I am still young and I strive to be the best and at my age I want to be successful.”

People appreciate his craft as the love colour spread sneakers are a hit with the youth.

Mr Sibiya’s future plans are to open his own business that will supply his craft to big companies in retail.

He would love to teach people who are interested in learning to do arts and craft.

“The youth should not sit back and let the world go by, they need to get into action because the world is their oyster.”
