Two local men drugged and robbed after hooking up with hitchhiking women

It is alleged that at about 10pm, two men aged 33 and 32, were driving from eMbalenhle when they saw four women hitch-hiking. They offered them a lift.

A night hook-up led to the theft of personal belongings worth more than R40 000 on Saturday, 18 November.

It is alleged that at about 10pm, two men aged 33 and 32, were driving from eMbalenhle when they saw four women hitch-hiking. They offered them a lift.

They then decided to go to Evander to a pub to have some drinks.

They decided later to go home and the women went with them.

The 33-year-old was offered some drinks, but he refused and was given some sweets and immediately fell asleep.

He woke up the following day at 2.30 pm.

The women were gone and his clothes, shoes, cell phones, television and a watch were stolen.

At his 32-year-old friend’s flat, they offered him a drink and he also slept until the morning.

His clothes, shoes, laptop, phones and watch were stolen. The women were gone.

Police called on motorists to avoid giving lifts to strangers, especially at night, and not to allow them into their homes.
