However, it is a short term solution to a route mostly used by trucks and is the fastest route to Wesselton.

When the Highvelder enquired about what is happening, Msukaligwa spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane, said the municipality, with the assistance of the Department of Public Works and Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM), are fixing the road to improve the driving quality for the public.

This saw gravel imported to fill the dongas and holes.

Mr Zwane also said it was a temporary solution till such time that the road can be rebuilt.

With the rainy season approaching, the road will be a nightmare, but Mr Zwane believes that the gravel, Ferricrete, is of good quality material.

It is commonly used for road construction on gravel and tar roads and watered and compacted to reduce water ingress in rainy situations.
