Gugu Mabuza’s light shine bright in world of arts

Two of her one-act play scripts, Izwi the voice and Dungeon without keys, will be performed at the SANCTA 37 One-Act Play festival next year in Secunda.

Gugu Mabuza is the life of any event around Msukaligwa and is tackling life by the horns.

Born on a farm near Breyten, she is currently resides in the small town with her mom, son and sister.

Having begun her schooling at Landelanimfundo Lower Primary School, she proceeded to Mkomazi Higher Primary School and eventually matriculated at Masizakhe Senior Secondary School in 2004.

She has various degrees and certificates to her name and can be rightly called an academic.

She is currently studying towards accreditation from the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers .

Even though she is an academic, Gugu’s passion lies with the arts and community development.

She holds many positions in various arts and community organisation.

“It is my goal that I help as many people as I can in achieving whatever goal they want in life,” she says.

She is currently the ambassador for numerous organisations, including the Social Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) and is deputy chairman and performing arts practitioner at Cinisela Arts productions (CAP), an organisation that aims to develop the youth in terms of drama performances and script writing.

An aspiring writer, two of her one-act play scripts Izwi the voice and Dungeon without keys, will be performed at the SANCTA 37 One-Act Play festival next year in Secunda.

She has successfully organised several talent search events (performing arts) and has run a successful campaign on teenage pregnancy, substance and domestic abuse as well as HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns around Msukaligwa.

She rakes in the awards as she is the winner of the Best News Reader Presenter in the Gert Sibande STars and Media Awards 2017.

Gugu aspires to be the most recognised researcher and writer and wants to be remembered as a dedicated, hard worker and someone who shares information to benefit others.
