GS TVET College rakes in the awards as they bag the PMR award

Gert Sibande TVET College won the PMR Diamond Award and two other awards from the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Gert Sibande TVET College has proved once again to be the leading college brand in the country as they were awarded the PMR Diamond Award and two other awards from the Department of Higher Education and Training last Monday.

The PMR Diamond Award-giving ceremony held in Nelspruit gave awards to institutions based on the perception of more or less 160 senior managers in Mpumalanga.

The purpose of the awards is to create a global and unique marketing tool for the institutions to enhance excellence in the industry where a team or division can be recognised for all their hard work.

The college also received the Minister’s award in the category of the most innovative curriculum programme on 3 October.

The awards were presented by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, together with the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Madala Masuku, during the TVET Imbizo Gala dinner held at The Lake and Conference Centre in Benoni.

The College was also selected and awarded the opportunity to establish a centre of specialisation for millwrights in Standerton, at the Centre of Artisan Development.
Centre Manager of the Skills Academy and Artisan Development, Ms Monica Swart, said this is an exciting prospect for the college and its community, and many opportunities will be created for the youth of the Gert Sibande Region.

“We are looking forward to the implementation and the Skills Centre will do its utmost best to make it a success. Employers should grab this opportunity to partner with the college to ensure that we train quality artisans that are needed in the workplace,” she said.
