UPDATE: Alexander Mohoebi’s case postponed to 2018 for sentencing

The charges are murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

According to new information received from Mr Joseph Mabuza, Community Safety, Security and Liaison Mpumalanga, the case against Alexander Mohoebi, who pleaded guilty to the shooting and killing of a Standerton traffic officer, Mr Bongani Nkumba, will be postponed to 22 and 25 January 2018 for sentencing.


Alexander Mohoebi pleaded guilty to the shooting and killing of Mr Bongani Nkumba, a traffic officer of Standerton, and his sentencing will take place in the Delmas High Court today, 13 October.

The charges are murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Mr Nkumba was shot and killed, while on duty on 5 August last year.

He stopped the accused after a traffic violation.
