Success of Bethal CPF and police show in the stats

This phone is manned 24 hours a day, but the Whatsapp will only be monitored between 6am and 9pm.

Mr Jaap Pretorius, chairman of the Bethal Community Police Forum (CPF), said during a community meeting last Friday the public plays a vital role in the success of keeping crime and criminals at bay.

It was the first public meeting of its kind in Bethal where residents were informed of the CPF’s role.

Mr Pretorius asked residents to report all suspicious people and vehicles to the police or CPF.

W/O Riaan Smit of the police said there are still problem areas in Bethal, such as the CBD and especially Sector 4, but that the success rate of the joint operations of the police and the CPF shows in the crime statistics.

He urged people not to leave valuable items in their cars and to make sure there are enough lights switched on around their houses at night.

Residents were asked to save the CPF’s emergency number on their phones.

The number is 072 711 3410.

This phone is manned 24 hours a day, but the Whatsapp will only be monitored between 6am and 9pm.

The emergency number should be called after 9pm.

For more information regarding the CPF or to join the Whatsapp group, contact Mr Pretorius at 082 806 1921 or the vice chairman, Mr Wihan Fourie, at 072 618 7201.
