Many people killed during long weekend collisions

Two people died Saturday evening and seven were injured in a collision near the Leandra tollgate.

Secunda emergency services had their hands full over the long weekend because of several accidents in and around Secunda.

ER24, Langamed South Ambulance Services and Bethal EMS reported more that 10 accidents.

Many drivers and passengers sustained moderate to serious injuries and there were also fatalities.

According to Arrive Alive:

– It is reported that 40 per cent of people who die on the country’s roads are pedestrians.

– About 60 per cent of pedestrians and drivers are under the influence of alcohol.

– 33 per cent of people who die on roads are passengers.

– Only two percent of passengers buckle up.
